What is Gelatin Printmaking?

It is a user friendly, non-toxic method of printing without a press.  It is an easy and fun way of making marks and images on paper that can become framed artwork, journals, cards and books.

It is a hands on and immediate form of monotype printing.

Who is this workshop for?

  • printmakers
  • mixed media artists
  • surface designers
  • card makers
  • book artists
  • fiber artists
  • art therapists
  • educators from elementary school to college and
  • anyone who would like to explore gelatin printmaking.

No experience is needed.

In this week long class you will make 100’s of prints and develop a unique mastery of this spontaneous form of monotype printmaking.

We will begin by making the gelatin and glycerin plate.

Then we will make and find stencils and stamping tools to manipulate, mask and transfer delicate and bold impressions to the paper.

Hopefully, you will confidently print with guided abandon to create impressions that you can frame or transform into books or other mixed media work.
