Gelatin Print Monotypes

I am doing some research for an article that I am writing about monotype prints.  It is affirming to feel a connection to the description of what a monotype is. It confirms that I am working in the the medium that best fits me. William Jung, describes the process as freeing the artist from the technical aspects of traditional printmaking.  That’s me! He further describes the process as experimental and unpredictable. Me again!  The monotype and the gelatin print are as varied as the artists that create them.

I can’t agree more. Monoprinting and gelatin plate work is very surprising and spontaneous. It feels as if I am not totally in control… and I find that liberation refreshing in this buzzy cell phoney, wi-fi dominated world.
