3 tips for using Createx Monotype inks

I decided to try out the createx monotype inks today.   Somethings I did differently with these inks:

  • squirt the ink right on the gelatin plate and brayer to a thin layer
  • let the layers dry – it takes a little longer
  • use a liberal a amount of ink
The create ink rolls out more like acrylic paint than ink.  For me today it held an nice edge with my stamping tools and it covered nicely. The pigment was rich and allowed for more than one detail/ghost print.

  1. What is the purpose of freezing cut up gelatin plate? I made my first one today with glycerin…..doesn’t that keep well enough in the fridge?
