Prepping for a Portfolio Review

©linda germain some artist books

So I am gathering my thoughts and getting ready to talk about a couple of my artists books as part of the artist’s professional tool box.   I have been thinking about how to talk about my books for the last couple of days.  I was even practicing as I planted tiny little seedlings of peppers, and lettuce today at the farm.  I work best when I have deadline like this.  Why do I need to be under pressure to get things done.

  1. I tend to do the same with deadlines, but I take comfort from Twyla Tharpe, who wrote in her book The Creative Habit that constraints (including time constraints) foster creativity.

  2. Having a set time to have something completed is better than never getting to it because there’s just too much time to wash floors etc! Don’t be so hard on yourself Linda!
