How do you Capture Inspiration?

Today I was at the farm and 5 or 6 big black crows were picking things out of the field, and I wished I had a camera to capture their movements.  I was wondering how people capture those moments that just come upon us?  Carry a sketch book?  A Camera?  A phone with a camera? or just be in the moment and draw it out later.  The shopper in me says I should get a phone with a camera.  I would love to hear about how you capture those moments of inspiration.  Enjoy!

  1. love the abstract landscape! I carry a small notebook with me whenever I leave the house. In it I will jot down ideas for prints sparked from something I’ve observed, color combinations I like , snips of a conversation I overheard, interesting things I read in magazines while waiting in the doctor’s office, etc.

  2. Your print is wonderful, and I feel the inspiration of the crows in the field. I take lots and lots of photos on my little cannon powershot camera although I don’t intentionality think of them as inspiration, the images often influence my work. (I bought a phone with a camera last year and dropped it into a water bucket in the studio about 2 weeks later – went back to my cheapo old phone and camera system but still pine for a camera phone). -sus

  3. I carry a notebook to jot things in and I take photos with my Easy Share camera that is small enough to carry around. I have a camera in my phone (I think they all have them now) but i can’t remember to use it!
