Two videos that may inspire you to print and play

I am sharing the links to 2 videos that may help you.

The first one is a very fast clip of my “yoga” printmaking exercise. The purpose is to:

  • build muscle memory
  • suspend judgement
  • make a pile of prints

The second video is how I get the gelatin plate out of the pan. This is important if you plate is fragile and just made with gelatin and water. The glycerin, gelatin and water recipe is much stronger and does not have to be handled so carefully

Have a wonderful day.

PS. Make Monotype, the online printmaking class is opening for registration on June 3rd. Check out the details here.

New Monoprints on Fabric with Screen Print ink

I have been busy pulling monotype prints on the homemade glycerin and gelatin printing plate.  This is getting to be more fun everyday.

I did a quick video of a bunch of test prints. Watch it and be inspired. I used the Versatex Screen printing inks in most of these monoprints.

I am happy with the density of coverage of the ink.  It dries in a day or so and can be layered then.

Let it Snow

Easy 6 point Snowflake from Linda Germain on Vimeo.

Snow and I have an every changing relationship.  For years, I was a ski pro and was out on the slopes every day from November to April.

Now that I am in the city, it is hard crusty stuff that takes up my parking space.  However, as I type this teeny, tiny flakes are falling outside my window, and I kinda like them.

What do you think snowflakes as stencils or decoration—–hmmm?  Well a friend of mine, Sandra Golbert, taught me how to cut the 6 pointed snowflake, and I made a quick video of the process.  I did not know that real snowflakes have 6 points and not 8.  Some true flake-lovers get quite annoyed by the 8 point “flake.”

It is easy to cut the 8 point flake because it is easy to fold the paper into quarters.  The magic trick to the 6 point snowflake is accurately folding the paper into thirds.

Grab some copy paper and scissors, watch the video and Make it snow!
