Installing Make your Mark Sign

Installing Make your Mark sign on my car Linda Germain

I had a vinyl sign made by the Sign Center, a local company here in Haverhill.  I got the idea from the Assets for Artist’s Program that I participated in last year.  I thought about it for a long time and had it on my to do list for ever.

Now It is Done!

The wind gave us a challenge, but the sunny warm day is fantastic.  Now I have to wash the rest of my car!

Mark making is such a cool term.  I love using inspired objects to make marks.  I found a lovely old hand made doily that I plan to use on my gelatin plate this weekend.

I will share the results on Monday.

If you want to explore mark making with me in my upcoming online course, then be sure to sign up for the newsletter and I will send you the details as they develop.

Happy Printing!

Linda

I made the cut – MVEC – Haverhill Video

gelatin plate prints by linda germain for sale on easy

Haverhill is changing and growing.  That’s a good thing.  A few weeks back the Merrimack Valley Economic Council sent a video crew to my studio to interview me about the artistic opportunity in the city.  So I got my 10 seconds of fame. :).  It is a pretty good summary of what Haverhill looks like today.    Here’s the Haverhill Video Link.

If you would like to check out Haverhill, my studio and jump into gelatin printmaking then sign up for the next class on Sunday, October 20th.  Go to the workshop page for the details.

Happy Printing,

Linda

Fashion forward is the theme for Haverhill 2014 Sole-a-bration

fashion forward soleabration in haverhill by linda germainI am thinking about submitting a proposal for the community shoe event.

These foot prints are my idea.

Do you think folks in town will want to make a foot print to be collaged on to the fiberglass shoe/bench?

Fun to see how different foot prints can be.

Here’s the link to the Team Haverhill call for proposals for the Sole-a-bration.

Great Day in the Studio

Five artists who call themselves, Confetti, came to the studio today to play with gelatin prints. It always amazes me how much I can learn when I am suppose to be the teacher.  I love to let students learn by doing and they always think of new ways to create interesting images.  With gelatin printmaking the possiblities do seem endless. We tried Daniel Smith inks, speedball inks, golden open acrylics, drawing paper, tracing paper, maps and newsprint.  All in all, I think everyone had fun and created some interesting prints.  They all left wanting to come back for more.  Yippie!

Tax day approaches!

I have been busy and finally got my taxes done.  I did a gelatin printmaking demonstration at the Georgetown Library and it was well attended.  We had fun and could have just kept printing all afternoon.  We are very busy planting annuals on the farm.  The pollen has taken over my sinuses and driven me to taking allergy medicine. I have been selecting  artwork for a small group show in Marblehead, MA.  So no new work this week.  OH  I went to a great talk by Jackie Battenfield, about the business of art.
