Consider alternative papers for Making Monotypes

You know I love to use what I have, rather than go buy a new gadget.  I have plenty of paper and I notice and collect “found” papers. The Haverhill Public Library has a book sale every season and I collect a bag of books for making monotype prints.

This black-out poem could become the substrate for a print, or a bit of collage in an artist’s book.  What about you?  Do you like delicious, expensive printmaking paper?  Or would consider printing on something from the recycling bin?

Next session of Make Monotypes – June 2nd – register on May 7th.

  1. Linda,
The blacked out text is a neat idea. I think I my have to hang on to some of the books I planned on getting rid of. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I’ve only tried printing a few times and always on print paper or mixed media paper. But why not try found pieces, too! I’m more of a collage maker and in that, I do love to use recycled materials. Great idea to make “found poetry” by blacking out most of the text in your book!

  3. I like to use whatever. Collected the papers packed between ceramic tiles as they were being laid at a house yesterday. Large rectangular to use as is or cropped!
