More foam Plate Prints

I have been experiementing with the foam plates some more.  The combinations are endless.  It is so quick.  I use a hairdryer to speed up the drying process, so that I can layer the image.
The speedball inks are working well.  I am not diluting them at all with water and I am getting nice even coverage.  I will have to put a call out to my family to save foam plate, take out food, meat trays and produce trays.
Enjoy the weekend.

  1. Beautiful! I’m curious how you’re doing this. I just took a monotype collage print workshop and loved it! But, I don’t have a press and am curious about ways of making prints without one.

    Love your blog!

  2. The process is pretty simple. I just impress lines and marks into the foam and that’s the plate. Then print some side by side and some overlapping. Sometimes light over dark, sometimes dark over light. I made about 25 4″ square plates. Maybe I will have to do a you tube video. It is alot easier to do than to write how I do it. Thanks for the interest.

  3. I love your results. This is fun for children also. (Use pudding for ink–in the bathtub.) I’ve used the same ink and printing technique on fabric. It’s incredible over patterned/colored fabric. Keep going. Your work is very cool.

  4. I do styro printing with my kids art classes all the time so much fun you might like gelatin printing also! I wanted to let you know that when my styro trays run low I buy a pack of styro picnic plates and cut the edges off OR just go into the meat section of the local supermarket and ask the manager if they have any to spare. Maybe they give them to me because I say I am a teacher and use them for a local school. I also get them by posting on my local FreeCycle board – people love donating something like styrofoam that would otherwise sit in a landfill for a use like creating art.

    Happy Printing!
